A sports coach has aired his views about possible changes to a town’s leisure centre. Head Coach of Cheadle & District Swimming Club, Andrew Stone, has written a letter to Cheadle Town Council updating councillors on the club’s current situation, as well as his thoughts on how the future proposals for the South Moorlands Leisure Centre may affect the club.

A stakeholder panel, which has been set up to consult about the future of a Moorlands town, has been hearing updates from consultancy firms who have, or are set to, carry out the public consultations. The Cheadle Town Centre Project Stakeholder Panel met virtually on Monday (May 10) with their meeting being made public for the first time.

Meetings surrounding the future of a Moorlands town are finally going to be made public. Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC) has formed a Stakeholder Panel to help support a Delivery Board which will be overseeing the development and delivery of a Cheadle Town Centre Project.

Working groups have been set up to consult with people over the future development of a Moorlands town. Cheadle Town Mayor, councillor Ian Plant, is the chairman of the Cheadle Town Centre Project Stakeholder Panel. The panel has been set up by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council to support a Cheadle Town Centre Delivery Board which will oversee development and delivery of Cheadle town centre projects including options appraisal for the emerging Cheadle town centre Masterplan and the High Streets Task Force programme of activity.

Last week we reported that Cheadle Town Council had agreed to request that meetings surrounding the future of their town were made public. The request being made to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC) was regarding the meetings of the new Cheadle Town Centre Project Stakeholder Panel which includes a number of Cheadle town councillors themselves.
