Creative murals on derelict pub

Locally themed murals have been placed on a currently derelict building in a Moorlands town. Cheadle Arts Festival organisers were approached by town and district councillor Gary Bentley to see if the local artist community could do something with the boards covering the front of the Royal Oak in Cheadle.

No open arts exhibition this year – get creative in your local paper instead

The 2020 Cheadle Arts Festival had been scheduled to take place this month but due to the current coronavirus situation the creative extravaganza had to be cancelled. There are many wonderfully talented artists within our community and we wanted to be able to give them an opportunity to still showcase their talents and so we, at the Times & Echo, have teamed up with Catherine Doel, Kirsty Spittle and Darren Roberts – the volunteers who would have been organising the Open Art Exhibition in Cheadle - to bring the exhibition to our paper instead.

Creative extravaganza for town is cancelled

A LARGE scale creative event has been cancelled amid the current coronavirus situation. This year’s Cheadle Arts Festival had set to take place during the month of June, and plans were in place for an enhanced programme to previous years including: an Open Arts Exhibition, a High Street Gallery, and Arts & Crafts Market, a host of participation and learning events, and a full ‘fringe programme of events, to name but a few. However, the volunteer organising team has now taken the difficult decision to cancel the creative extravaganza due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
