A POLICE officer from Uttoxeter has raised more than £8,000 by shaving off his infamous ‘man bun.’ PC Rich Lymer lost 22 inches of hair on Saturday at a community fun day to mark the loss of his ‘luscious locks.’

An appeal is being made for people to dress up in Victorian costume for a new calendar. The appeal has been made by James Woolley, who lives in Kingsley, and who is aiming to produce a calender with any profits being given to charity.

A motor racing team from Cheadle is helping promote the Lee Rigby Foundation with a specially designed car. Brothers Jason and Robert Carnwell invested in the new Pro-Grand car, which was launched for the new season over Easter.

A FAMILY from Uttoxeter have organised a raffle through social media after a charity fun day was cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic. And their fund-raising efforts have been backed by local businesses - despite many still being closed due to lockdown restrictions.

A CHARITY shop employee is shaving his head next month in aid of a cause that helps children who suffer with mental health illness. Aaron Pointer from Uttoxeter’s Barnardo’s branch is letting his locks go as part of the charity’s fund-raising season in aid of SOLAR, the specialist service for kids with mental health difficulties. Fellow staff members and volunteers at the charity shop are carrying out other activities to bring in further funds for the charity.

A VILLAGE nursery has raised lots of cash for charity after hosting a community event. A Summer Fair was held at the Children 1st @ Acorns Upper Tean recently to celebrate the company's 30th birthday. All proceeds from the celebration have been donated to Aching Arms as part of the company’s pledge to support 30 good causes throughout its anniversary year.

A SCHOOL choir is continuing to raise funds for a hospice. The Cheadle Academy Sixth Form Choir began singing together in supermarkets during the festive period of 2017, following the sad death of their teacher Craig Beverley who passed away in October 2016. Since then they have raised thousands for the Dougie Mac charity which supported Craig and his family before he passed away after losing his battle with cancer.

A POST office counter clerk is taking on a 'hair raising' challenge – all in aid of charity. Dawn England, who works at Cheadle Post Office, has decided to have her long brunette locks shaved off in a bid to raise cash for the Douglas Macmillan. Dawn, who has worked at the Cheadle Post Office for 17 years, will be having her head shaved to a number two cut at a special event at the Lamplighter in Cheadle on Sunday, August 25 at around 5pm.

A CHEADLE man has been jailed after abusing his position at a charity to fund luxury holidays and cruises. Dale Hicks, 35, of Tape Street, Cheadle, attempted to steal more than £330,000 in a Gift Aid repayment fraud. The former charity treasurer managed to claim £270,000 before coming under suspicion.

A FUND-RAISING couple have handed over almost £5,000 to charity recently. Alan and Donna Smith have hosted an annual charity fundraiser for the past seven years, raising funds for a variety of charities such as the Air Ambulance, the Donna Louise, Teenage Cancer Trust, and CRY, to name but a few. This year the couple, who hosted their 2019 'Motown and More' event at Checkley Community Centre on April 15, have donated to both Bliss, a national neonatal organisation, and also Pancreatic Cancer UK.

A WORKPLACE drive to raise funds for a children's hospice has inspired a young woman to fulfil a life-long ambition. Adventurous Laura Whitworth, 24, is planning to tick a skydive off her bucket list – and raise funds for the Donna Louise Hospice at the same time. Laura, who works at the Uttoxeter branch of Leek United Building Society, is planning to leap from a plane this weekend in a bid to boost funds for the hospice.

A SCHOOL choir is aiming to reach number one in the UK charts with a song they are releasing in memory of a former teacher. Television presenter, panto star, and singer Jonathan Wilkes visited Cheadle Academy yesterday to help the school's Sixth Form choir prepare for their recording of their single 'My Oh My' at Staffordshire University today. The choir began singing together in supermarkets during the festive period of 2017, following the sad death of their teacher Craig Beverley who passed away in October 2016.
