A NURSE from Uttoxeter is planning to walk the length of the Trent and Mersey Canal as part of a fund-raising drive for Prostate Cancer UK.

A FAMILY are walking 11 kilometres to raise awareness of spinal cord injuries after one of their children made an inspirational recovery from a potentially life-changing back fracture. On August 8, 2018, Eleanor Bloor from Hollington suffered a severe spinal cord injury and a “T12 burst fracture.” The next day, the Abbotsholme School student was sent for emergency surgery at the University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) before being transferred to The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH) in Oswestry with Eleanor only able to wiggle her toes.

A CHEADLE businessman has completed an energetic challenge – all in aid of charity. Duncan Cowans, who runs a hairdressers in Cheadle Shopping Centre, was joined by seven other intrepid walkers, in completing a 35 mile walk from the Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton to the Bet365 Stadium in Stoke. The challenge took place recently in order to raise funds for the Dougie Mac in memory of the late Gordon Banks.
