A SPECIAL bond has formed between a retired teacher and an abandoned dog thanks to volunteers at a Cheadle animal charity. Liz Bailey, 74, from Denstone, was devastated after the loss of her canine companion, Jessie, last month. But after reading about the work of Cheadle and District Animal Welfare Society (CAWS) in the Times and Echo, Liz got in touch with the charity and found solace in Max – a 14 year old collie cross.
