Decision on car park plans delayed

A vote by Staffordshire Moorlands District councillors regarding a new car parking strategy has been pushed back after disagreements over sections of the proposals. District council run car parks in Leek are set for tariff increases and charging hours on Monday to Saturday are due to be extended from 9.30am and 3.30pm to between 8am and 6pm.

Decision over car park plans postponed

Councillors at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC) have decided to hold off a vote on proposed car park strategy changes amid pushback from Cheadle representatives. Councillor Andrew Hart brought the draft plans to the SMDC Service Delivery Overview & Scrutiny Panel meeting last Wednesday (January 26) which outlined proposed alterations to its car parks across the district.

A community leader has re-affirmed Staffordshire Moorlands District Council’s (SMDC) intention to meet the desires of Cheadle representatives regarding car park works. Cheadle town councillors who sit on the district council and SMDC leader Sybil Ralphs along with deputy leader Mark Deaville held a meeting six weeks ago to discuss a ‘Strategic Car Parking Strategy’ for its car parks going forward.
