Swimming champion Adam Peaty is currently wowing television viewers with a new found talent – that of dancing as he flew through the first show of Strictly Come Dancing. The multi Olympic Gold Medalist, who grew up in Uttoxeter and also attended Painsley Catholic College in Cheadle, left the show’s judges rather flustered after watching his Cha Cha performance with his professional partner Katya Jones.

Peaty, CUPRA’s brand ambassador, took a road-trip in the CUPRA Formentor back to the places in his childhood that marked milestones in his journey to becoming an Olympic, Commonwealth, European and World Champion.

ORGANIST and keyboard player, Carol Bradbury is encouraging people across Uttoxeter to put on their dancing shoes in support of the town’s Olympic hero Adam Peaty. Carol, known as ‘Twinklefingers’ has returned to Uttoxeter Town Hall to play musical accompaniment for the twice-monthly tea dances.

AN OLYMPIC gold medallist from Staffordshire has raised tens of thousands of pounds for the NHS as health workers continue to tackle coronavirus. Global swimming sensation Adam Peaty MBE from Uttoxeter raffled off his Team GB 2016 Olympic Racing Trunks over the weekend to help raise money for the service to purchase personal protective equipment after taking part in a 100km exercise bike ride to raise yet more funds last week. The six-time Male European Swimmer of the Year selected the winning ticket on Friday, and managed to raise more than £13,000 for NHS charities on top of the £4,000 that was donated during his 100km exercise bike ride challenge – meaning altogether Adam managed to bring in more than £17,000.

A POOLSIDE tribute to Olympic champion Adam Peaty has inspired a Uttoxeter man to keep fit while battling advanced prostate cancer. Steve Derry, 58, took up swimming on the advice of medics in a bid to get a fit as possible before gruelling chemotherapy. And after hearing of his plight, gold medallist Adam paid a visit to Steve's home during the festive season.
