A pie maker in East Staffordshire has been highly commended for his baking skills at a national awards ceremony. Simon Wilson who runs the Pie Shak at High Ash Farm in Abbots Bromley was recently invited to attend the British Pie Awards which took place in Melton Mowbray.

A VILLAGE fire station is in line for a revamp – and the crew based there is on the look-out for new recruits. Seven retained firefighters are currently assigned to the station at Abbots Bromley, which will undergo an internal renovation this year.

A LANDLADY shaved off her hair as part of a fund-raiser for the NHS. Lisa Cowell, landlady at the Bagot Arms in Abbots Bromley, has raised more than £1,800 after shaving her locks off in lock down. Lisa sat on a stool outside the pub on Sunday as her son, James, shaved off her hair.

A VILLAGE landlady is planning to shave her locks during lock down in support of friends working on the frontline of the fight against coronavirus. Lisa Cowell, landlady at the Bagot Arms in Abbots Bromley, has already gathered more than £1,000 in donations ahead of the stunt which will take place on Sunday, May 3.

POLICE are appealing for farmers to drive carefully and with fair consideration in an East Staffordshire village. Staffordshire Police has confirmed that the force has received complaints regarding the manner in which agricultural vehicles are travelling along Radmore Lane in Abbots Bromley. Police Constable Rich Lymer said: “It has been suggested that the vehicles are travelling at speeds too great for the conditions albeit within the speed limit and are mounting up grass verges causing damage to the verges, hedgerows and also due to heavy and harsh braking causing damage to the road surface.
