Share initiative launched for community building

A community group in the Moorlands has launched a share initiative in their bid to purchase a former chapel building. The ‘Kingsley Holt Centre’ group is aiming to purchase the Methodist Chapel in Kingsley Holt, which the Staffordshire Moorlands Methodist Circuit had previously announced that it is putting the building up for sale.

“Gift guide is a total waste of money”

Concern has been raised over the production of a ‘Gift Guide’ for the Staffordshire Moorlands. Last week, we revealed that Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC) had spent £17,000 on a ‘Gift Guide’ for the district – using some of its share of the Government’s ‘Welcome Back’ fund.

“General interest in the grant scheme is low”

A council has just four months left to allocate more than £50,000 in funding set aside to help with the repair, restoration and enhancement of heritage sites across the Moorlands. And members of Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, which administrates the Moorlands Partnership Board’s funding allocation each year, have been reminded that any money not allocated will not be carried forward to the next financial year.

£23k for new play equipment in Kingsley Holt

A DONATION of more than £23,000 will help fund new play equipment for village children. Money raised from the sale of the former Kingsley Youth Club has been gifted to Kingsley Holt Community Fund for the new kit. A cheque for £1,000 has also been presented to Kingsley Village Hall for fire doors at the rear of the building.

Duncan’s Dougie Mac drive tops £40k

MORE than £40,000 has been raised by Cheadle people in support of a town hairdresser. Duncan Cowan has been a supporter of the Douglas Macmillan Hospice over the past 42 years. Since 2010, he has taken an even more active role in raising funds for the charity – and this year his total has reached a whopping £33,000.
