RESIDENTS in Uttoxeter with concerns about anyone sleeping rough in the town can access help in the borough.
East Staffordshire Borough Council (ESBC) outlined the help available after concerns about a woman appearing to be homeless were raised on social media last month and further concerns over a man appearing to be homeless sitting outside Uttoxeter Town Hall Last week.
Cllr Ray Faulkner, deputy leader for environment and housing at ESBC said: “The council encourages the public to report any concerns about rough sleeping to the Rough Sleeper Outreach Service (RSOS), either by Freephone 0800 130 3415 or by using the Streetlink online reporting system.
“The outreach service responds to any reports of rough sleeping by attending the sleep site to make contact with the individual within a maximum of 48 hours, and frequently within 24 hours.
“This contact facilitates access to the wider set of council-commissioned rough sleeping interventions, including the Emergency Bed Spaces.
“Further details of organisations working to assist homeless people locally can be found on the Burton and East Staffs Homeless Partnership website.”
