Public meeting on new store plan

MEMBERS of the public are being given a chance to have their say on plans for a new supermarket in Uttoxeter.
Lidl wants to build a multi-million pound store on Brookside Road – opposite the railway station – in a development that will replace its existing premises at Dovefields Retail Park in the town.
The scheme, which is expected to create up to 20 new jobs, was first revealed in July according to the German supermarket chain, which has promised to provide further details at a public consultation event on Friday (November 3).
It has promised to take all feedback on board before submitting a formal planning application to East Staffordshire Borough Council later this month.
Lidl says current plans for the sustainable store feature a 1,325m² sales area with 182 car parking spaces.
It will boast state-of-the-art facilities including an in-store bakery, longer-style tills with dual packing facilities and customer toilets.
