FEARS of road chaos at the start of a new season at Alton Towers have been allayed.
Work to install new water pipes has prompted the closure of a main road through Cotton and led to a diversion which adds more than 20 minutes to some journeys.
It was feared the project could lead to major traffic problems when the theme park re-opens on March 17.
But bosses at Severn Trent say the work at Star Bank is ahead of schedule.
And they’re hoping to reopen the road, which was closed last month, by the end of next week.
