A STROKE survivor who had to learn to walk again has crossed the finish line of a 5k charity run.
Communications director for JCB, John Kavanagh, took on the Resolution Run at Trentham Gardens on Sunday in aid of the Stroke Association.
He completed the course in just over three quarters of an hour and raised more than £3,500.
Originally, John, 50, intended to support his friends from the sidelines but after successful treatment and physiotherapy, he was able to complete the race himself, alongside his daughter and her friend.
He came 104th out of the 173 competitors with a time of 46 minutes and 57 seconds and raised the second-largest amount of cash for the Stroke Association which organised the event.
John said: “When I started fundraising, I only expected to raise about £500 at most.
“I never expected to raise more than £3,600 and I am very grateful to everyone who supported me in my fundraising efforts, especially my colleagues at JCB who dug really deep for me and in turn, for the Stroke Association.
