A Moorlands based business has cemented a sponsorship with a young football team.
Lafarge Cauldon, the cement plant based on Yelsway Lane, Cauldon, has become the strip sponsor of the Waterhouses Junior under 7s football team.
The team, which plays at Waterhouses Playing Fields, is part of the North Staffs Junior Youth League.
James Carr, shift team manager for Lafarge Cauldon, helps to run the under 7s team and his son is also a member of the squad. He said: “The children are really looking forward to playing in their new kit – it’s given them a real boost.”
This is the first time there has been an under 7s team at the club, although there has been an under 12s side for a while. James and some other local parents and helpers set up the team to give the younger children an opportunity to play.
James added: “Hopefully this brand new kit will help to raise the profile of the under 7s and more parents will bring their children along to grow the team in the future.”
Stuart Hutchings, plant manager for Lafarge Cauldon, said: “We are very pleased to be sponsoring the team strip for Waterhouses Junior under 7’s.
“Supporting young peoples’ activities in the local community is really important to us and we wish the team all the best for the future.”
Cauldon Cement Plant, part of Lafarge Holcim, produces approximately 1m tonnes of cement per annum. The plant employs around 150 staff at its plant in Cauldon.
The plant carries out a number of community activities throughout the year, including school environment and safety campaigns, charitable donations to local organisations and sponsoring local activities.
