Speed demons targeted in new campaign

VILLAGE leaders are taking matters into their own hands in a bid to crack down on speeding drivers.

Members of Forsbrook Parish Council are keen to see new road signs and deterrents installed in the area.

So they’re planning to hit the streets equipped with speed guns in a bid to identify drivers who break the limit.

Several councillors have agreed to join a new volunteer group that will undergo full training for monitoring drivers using a hand-held device similar to the police.

Offenders will have their details and speed logged and the results will be used to compile a report to be sent to Staffordshire County Council.
The campaign is being led by parish council chairman Peter Jones.

He said: “I see cars in a morning hitting speeds of what I can only imagine are close to 60mph speeding through Cheadle Road – they treat that road like a race track.
