A brother and sister duo from the Moorlands are set to take on Snowdon – all in aid of charity.
Six-year-old Oakley Lawton, and his sister Ivy, aged five, are currently in training for the energetic challenge – doing lots of walking at the scenic Roaches near their hometown of Leek.
The youngsters, who attend Woodcroft Academy in Leek, are walking Snowdon in a bid to raise lots of cash to help those affected by war-torn Ukraine.
Their mum Lynsey Lawton, said: “On Friday, April 15, Oakley and Ivy are climbing Snowdon to raise money for families in Ukraine.
“They plan on taking the Llanberis path up to the summit of Snowdon.
“It will be a huge challenge for them but one they are determined to conquer.
“They hope to gain lots of support, to raise as much money as possible.”
Oakley and Ivy, with their help of their mum, will be vlogging (making a video diary online) their adventure for everyone to see.
Oakley said: “It makes me sad that the families and children in Ukraine are having to leave their homes and don’t have enough of things like medicines.
“I feel excited about climbing snowdon to help.”
Ivy added: “I feel so happy that we are helping the families and children in Ukraine.
“I can’t wait to show everyone when we have got to the top.”
Oakley and Ivy, through their Justgiving webpage, have so far raised £315 of their £500 target.
Anyone wishing to sponsor them can do so by going online to: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/oakleyandivy.
