IT WASN’T your usual junk-mail and bills for Cheadle poet, Ruth Warrington, last week.
The 61-year-old was left shell-shocked after receiving a letter of thanks on behalf of Prince Harry.
Leading up to the 20th anniversary of her death at the end of this month, Ruth decided to write a memorial poem about the late Princess Diana.
After sending it to Clarence House, the royal residence situated in Westminster, London, the housewife from Cheadle never expected a letter of reply.
Ruth told the Times and Echo: “I wanted to write something special as it’s the 20th anniversary of her death coming up.
“I was thrilled to bits when I opened the letter last week, I didn’t expect it at all.”
“I’ve always liked Diana, I wrote a letter of condolence to Mohamed Al-Fayed the year Diana died and received a letter of thanks then as well, twenty years later, it’s happened again.
Mohamed Al-Fayed’s eldest son, Dodi died in the car accident that killed the “people’s princess” on 31st August 1997.
Ruth spends her spare time writing poems about any topic that she is passionate about, she’s previously had 14 poems published.
This latest poem only took an hour or so to write, but with a response from Kensington, it’s definitely one to remember.
