A running race in the Moorlands is set to go ahead this year.
The Cheadle 4 Race, which took place virtually last year, is back to it’s (almost) normal format this year and is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 11.
A spokesman for the Cheadle Running Club, which organises the annual event, said: “We are delighted to announce that their popular Cheadle 4 Road Race will be taking place on Sunday, July 11 at 10.30am.
“The event is Race 9 of the NSRRA series but will be the first to take place this season as an actual event.
“The club have worked hard with the authorities to ensure the race could go ahead and are indebted to local sponsors who have been fantastic in helping with the additional costs to comply with CoVid guidelines.
“The Raddle Inn, Body Bank Gym, A J Beaman, A & A Silencers, Stoddards fuel and Cheadle Carpets are all loyal supporters of our race and yet again have stepped forward to ensure the race was financially viable; we are so grateful.”
The testing four mile race has a strict capacity of 300 runners and is online entry only via avtiming.com.
The spokesman added: “The event is sure to be a sell out and anyone interested is urged to enter ASAP to avoid disappointment.
Entry is £10 for affiliated runners and £12 for non affiliated; booking admin fee also applies.
“We have made a few adaptations to comply with guidelines and reassure our athletes, but the route has not changed and the climb up to Freehay is still set to challenge runners before the fast descent back towards the recreation ground.
“All participants will receive a fantastic Race Buff memento and there are cash prizes for the first three Male and Female, plus first Veteran Male and Female in each age group.”
