RESIDENTS WELCOME PLANS FOR VILLAGE PUB

VILLAGERS have welcomed news that a popular pub is set to re-open in time for Christmas.
Residents in Caverswall were left facing the prospect of a dry festive period when the Red House was closed down suddenly last month.
But news emerged this week that the pub will re-open under new management within a fortnight.
Simon and Claire Hamilton, of Bar Leisure Ltd, say they’re carrying out remedial works at the site and hope to open the pub again soon.
Simon said: “We do intend to take over the site permanently, but we’re only in discussions at the moment and have yet to finalise an agreement.
“We’re keen to get the pub reopened as soon as possible and are currently completing remedial works on the site with the intention of reopening before Christmas.
“We hope to post our new menu shortly and if anyone booked previously and would like to retain their booking, I would ask them to let us know as soon as possible.
“We look forward to meeting everyone soon.”
The Red House was closed in the first week of November when landlords Andy and Andrea Connor moved to a pub in west Lancashire after 15 years in the village.
It meant the community was left without a social hub as the Auctioneers Arms, the only kother pub in Caverswall, has not yet re-opened after being bought by a residents’ group.”
