POLICE have named a woman who died in a road traffic collision near Uttoxeter on Sunday. Catherine Smith, aged 57 of Stafford, died when the car she was travelling in was in collision with another at around 2pm on Sunday, September 29 in Loxley, near Uttoxeter. Sadly, Catherine was pronounced dead at the scene. A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: “Catherine's family members are being supported by specially-trained officers and have asked for their privacy to be respected at this time.”
The force is appealing for witnesses following the fatal incident on Sunday.
The spokesman said: “The crash happened just after 2pm at the crossroads of Holly Lane and Quee Lane in Loxley and involved a white Alfa Romeo Mito and a Silver Peugeot 206.
“Officers from the West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and carried out a detailed examination.”
Staffordshire Police is urging anyone who saw either of the two vehicles before the crash to call 101 quoting serial number 407 of September 29.
Additionally, if a driver with a dashcam believes they may have footage of the incident they are advised to email ciu@staffordshire.pnn.police.uk.
