A pensioner has had cash stolen from him while using a town centre cash point in East Staffordshire. The incident happened on Friday (March 11) at just before 10am in Carter Street, Uttoxeter.

A pensioner has had cash stolen from him while using a town centre cash point in East Staffordshire.

The incident happened on Friday (March 11) at just before 10am in Carter Street, Uttoxeter.

A 90-year-old man, who had been using the cash point, was approached by an offender who then stole £500 from the elderly man.

Staffordshire Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the incident to get in touch with them

A spokesman for the force said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses after cash was stolen in Uttoxeter.

At approximately 9.55am on Friday (March 11) a 90-year-old man was approached whilst using a cash machine on Carter Street.

The suspect made off on foot in the direction of the High Street / Church Street with £500.”

The spokesman added: “The victim, who was left shaken but unhurt, went inside of the bank where he alerted staff who called police.

Enquiries are on-going. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage is asked contact us on Facebook, Twitter, or call 101, quoting incident 197 of 11 March.
