A TOURIST destination in the Moorlands is holding an event to raise funds for life-saving equipment that will be stored on-site in case of medical emergencies. Hales Hall Camping and Caravan Park on Oakamoor Road in Cheadle will put on a host of activities and entertainment during an afternoon of fundraising on Saturday, September 14 in a bid to raise money to buy a defibrillator. This piece of apparatus sends electric currents into a person's chest in an attempt to restart or amend the rhythm of the heart in the event of medical emergencies such as a cardiac arrest.
A spokesperson for the event told the Times and Echo: “We’ve had a lot of interest from everyone about buying a defibrillator.
“People on-site have often approached us about it and so that’s why we are fundraising.”
Park owners are hoping to raise £2,000 to cover the cost of the defibrillator and the training needed in order for staff to learn how to use the device correctly.
A number of stalls will be present on the fund-raising day with live music on show to entertain guests.
Among numerous other activities, a tombola will be held with live demonstrations from invited guests going on throughout the day.
The spokesperson said: “We are still in the process of organising more ahead of the day.
“Meanwhile, people can donate online and we have donation boxes in the reception of the caravan park.”
Gates open for the fund-raising day at 2pm with admission free of charge.
Hales Hall Caravan and Camping Park is a 16-acre family-owned holiday destination, with the Hales Hall building dating back to the early 18th century and is now a grade two listed building.
