A PARISH council has given thousands of pounds to a project team to help towards the regeneration of a recreation field. Kingsley Parish Council have confirmed that they have donated £10,000 to Kingsley Venture Valley Project Team for their plans to improve Kingsley Recreation Ground.
he decision comes after the group’s bid to the Kingsley Community Fund for “significant funding” was rejected earlier this year.
A spokesperson for Kingsley Parish Council told the Times and Echo: “After extensive consultation with the villagers, including the children, a revamped layout has been designed that will provide an extended range of play equipment to cater for a greater age range and provide more inspiring play.
“At the Kingsley Parish Council’s September meeting, councillors decided to contribute £10,000 to the project from existing council reserves.
“Depending on the outcome of other funding applications, this contribution from the parish council will enable the range of play equipment to be enhanced, and allow the purchase of additional items identified by the community survey such as picnic benches and replacement goal posts on the adjacent football pitch.”
Kingsley Parish Council chairman Ken Unwin added: “Councillors are very supportive of the work being done by the Project Team and wholeheartedly support this project which will see tangible benefits on Kingsley Recreation Ground.
“The council hopes to be able to fund projects in other areas of the parish in due course.”
Kingsley Venture Valley Project Team members Lucy, Mandie and Lou commented: “The donation from the Kingsley Parish Council will be a great boost towards the regeneration project.
“It is fantastic to see our parish council supporting our work to provide an exciting, safe and enjoyable space for the village children to play and others to spend time in.
“We intend this beautiful space to become something we can all share in being proud of”.
