An outdoor market operator is inviting independent shops to have a stall ahead of being able to re-open their actual shops again. Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced this week that outdoor markets will be able to re-open on Monday (June 1) as long as social distancing measures are put in place. With this, Ray Wood, who operates Northern Markets which includes the outdoor market in Cheadle’s Market Place, is calling for any stall holders, and also any independent shops, to host a stall this coming week, and beyond.
Mr Wood said: “We want to re-open the outdoor market now that we will be able to from June 1.
“We are now trying to get stall holders to come forward to take on stalls.
“We have the capacity of up to 15 stalls so would also like to invite local independent shops to have a stall as they won’t be able to open their shops for another two weeks.
“People can have a stall for £10 a day, and that can be from anytime between 8am until 5pm.
“We provide the stalls and we will be putting in place social distancing measures.”
The normal opening days for the outdoor market in Cheadle’s Market Place are Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, but Mr Wood said that if demand is there, he will consider opening more days in the week.
He said: “I think businesses are ready to be able to sell their wares and I think people are ready to get out shopping again.”
Anyone interested in having a stall in Cheadle’s Market Place can contact Mr Wood on 07970 336906.
