A new life-saving piece of equipment has been installed in a Moorlands high street.
The 24-hour access defibrillator has been installed on the exterior wall of the Body Bank Gym in High Street, Cheadle.
The addition for the town is thanks to town councillor Elizabeth Whitehouse, who has been fundraising for an additional defibs for Cheadle, and also JCB who paid the full £2,000 for the life-saving piece of equipment.
Cllr Whitehouse is working with Stone-based AEDdonate to install ten public access defibrillators across Cheadle.
Elizabeth launched the campaign to raise funds for the life-saving equipment last March.
Cllr Whitehouse said: “The defib is now installed and registered on the system so it’s ready for action if it needs to be used.
“It’s been placed on the Body Bank Gym on Cheadle High Street, which is owned by cllr Pete Wilkinson who’s very kindly let me place it on his building.
“It’s been funded by JCB as a show of their continued support to our community in their 75th anniversary year.”
As for her continued campaign to have a total of ten additional defibs in Cheadle, cllr Whitehouse said: “I am still fundraising, and I am hoping that when the current restrictions relax, I can get some events going to further help the fund-raising.”
