A new fund has been officially launched to specifically help voluntary groups in Uttoxeter.

We Love Uttoxeter was launched recently by The Community Foundation of Staffordshire, working with an advisory panel, who are set to help manage the promotion, fund-raising, and distribution of the grants.

A spokesman for the Community Foundation said: “We Love Uttoxeter is a community fund which aims to provide small grants of up to £1,000 to a range of projects across the Uttoxeter area once sufficient funding has been raised.

The fund will raise money by company and individual donations and fund-raising activities and then award grants twice a year.”

They continued: “All money will be invested through a permanent endowment in line with charity commission guidelines.

The interest and dividends earned on the money are then distributed by the fund as small grants across the district.

The beauty of this model is that it will provide a source of sustainable, permanent, and on-going funding that can be used for small grants, and larger grants as the fund grows, for many years to come.”

The advisory panel for the We Love Uttoxeter fund is set to be headed up by The Community Foundation trustee and ex High Sheriff of Staffordshire Ashley Brough with ex-Staffordshire County Council leader Philip Atkins.

Ashley launched the fund recently by distributing over £14,000 worth of grants to a number of local organisations working for the benefit of communities across Uttoxeter.

He said: “My rallying call to people across Uttoxeter is to raise money for your voluntary groups, to help those on our doorstep.

In short, We Love Uttoxeter is ‘for Uttoxeter, by Uttoxeter.”
