A host of music from across the decades is set to be used to entertain crowds at a Moorlands town event.

This year’s Party in the Park, which is organised by Leek Town Council, is set to have the added celebrations of joining in on the nation’s events for the Queens’ Platinum Jubilee.

The community extravaganza is set to be staged at Brough Park in Leek on Sunday, June 5, between midday and 5.30pm.

Not only will there be a host of bands and acts performing from the park’s bandstand, but there will also be a giant waterslide, a marquee full of community stalls, as well as fun fair rides in the park.

Prior to the Party in the Park on Sunday, June 5, there will be the town’s monthly Sunday Supplement in the town centre with lots of independent shops and businesses open, as well as the ever popular artisan and makers market – all from 10.30am onwards.

Councillor Matt Swindlehurst, who chairs the Leek Town Council Events committee, said: “Plans are well advanced for the welcome return of ‘Party in the Park.’
“On the Sunday of the Platinum Jubilee weekend, Leek Town Council will be hosting the event in Brough Park.

The bandstand will be the venue for a whole range of bands, celebrating the town’s live music scene over the decades.

Expect some very special guests. Moorlands Radio will be on hand so why not bring a chair, buy a drink from the bar, and settle back to enjoy some of Leek’s finest.
“Or you can take the giant waterslide down to the bottom of the park, where John Collins Funfair will be in full swing.”

Cllr Swindlehurst continued: “Our marquee will be hosting a range of our valued community groups, so find out what’s going on and maybe get involved.
“The event starts at noon so there’s plenty of chance to visit the Sunday Supplement’s Maker’s Market in the morning. Stock up with picnic food, and browse dozens of stalls from our local independent traders. All in the main street just a few minutes walk from the park.
“It’s going to be unmissable.”

Also during the Jubilee Weekend in Leek, there will be music in the town centre on the Saturday during the day, and an Elvis Tribute act event on the Saturday afternoon/evening which had set to take place at the Westwood Road Recreation Grounds, but is now taking place at the grounds of Leek Football Club in Macclesfield Road.
