BIKERS from the Moorlands have taken part in an annual charity run. The 41st Annual Egg Run, which started from Stoke City Football Club, took place on Sunday, April 14. In the Staffordshire Moorlands, there was a local meet up point from The Blacksmith's Arms in Kingsley.
Those who took part donated £2 and an Easter Egg, and also collected more Eater eggs from members of the public throughout the 14 mile run through Stoke-on-Trent.
All eggs collected are set to be handed to the Gingerbread Charity for distribution to children.
There was also a fund-raising event after the Egg Run at The Kings Hall in Stoke-on-Trent with refreshments, trade stands, a raffle and entertainment by live band The Regulators.
Daz Heath from Tean is a regular participant in the Star Bikers event and this year proved to be extra special for him after his daughter rallied classmates to collect even more eggs to donate.
Tayce-Rouge Heath, 11, is chairman of the Mini Vinnies at St Thomas’ RC Primary School in Tean.
The organisation is part of a nationwide drive encouraging youngsters to help tackle need in their community.
Tayce-Rouge urged her classmates and fellow Mini Vinnies to collect as many Easter eggs as they could before the bikers’ run to donate to children less fortunate than themselves.
Dad, Daz, said: “I was overwhelmed to be honest. I just thought it was so nice that they wanted to do something for kids not as lucky as them. It’s absolutely brilliant.
“She knew she would be having Easter eggs, but she went in to school and got everyone to think about the kids who might not be getting an egg and got them to do something about it.
“I’m really really proud of her.”
