A councillor is appalled after a number of community planters were vandalised in a Moorlands town centre this week.

The incident in Cheadle happened overnight on Monday (November 1) and involved a number of planters in Greyhound Walk, and also in High Street.

The planters were all pushed over and their contents, of soil and plants, were left all over the ground.

The planters had previously been lovingly planted out by volunteers from Cheadle in Bloom.

Councillor Ian Plant, who is on the Cheadle In Bloom Committee, told the Times & Echo: “The planters have all been knocked over, three down in Greyhound Walk, and one outside the gym in High Street.

“It is just mindless vandalism and is just so disheartening as Cheadle In Bloom is a bunch of volunteers who try our upmost to make the town look nice.

“Luckily there has been no damage done, but it’s the inconvenience and is just so disheartening after all the hard work of our volunteers.”
