THE history of a showman's background is being bought to life in the form of a book, depicting the life of a family who have bought The Wakes to Cheadle for almost 140 years.
Warwick’s Fun Fair will return to the town this weekend, at the usual venue of Tean Road Recreation Ground and is set to stay until Saturday, September 8.
As well as bringing a whole seven days of family fun to Cheadle, for families of the town and surrounding areas, the family is also launching a special book.
‘The Story of the Davies Family – Pioneer Roundabout Proprietors’ has been a long-awaited project, and has seen a team of fun fair historians digging into the ancestry of Paul Warwick, the current owner.
Paul’s parents – and grandparents – have strong connections to Cheadle, as both couples married in the town’s famous St Giles Catholic Church, Pugin’s Gem.
Paul said: “The book is something that has been a long time coming.
“We’ve spent months doing a little digging, and we have connections all over but especially with Cheadle.
