Cheadle Town Council agreed to upload the meeting recordings following a request from a member of public.
At last Tuesday (May 4) meeting of the town council, a lengthy debate on the matter took place resulting in a vote to go ahead with the uploading of the recordings.
The council is also currently looking into revamping the town council website to comply with regulations surrounding it being accessible to all.
During the debate about whether to go ahead with the uploading of the recordings or not, the debate veered off to discuss how the council should be meeting now that the Government has said councils can no longer meet virtually, despite there being a number of Covid-19 restrictions still in place.
It was discussed that even though the law states that councils can not meet virtually any longer, as of May 7, that the Government has reportedly said they will not take any action if councils continued to do so.
After another lengthy debate, councillors began to agree to continue with virtual meetings until it is safe to return to the chambers after further lifting of restrictions on June 21.
However, they did not vote on the matter as it had not been listed on the meeting agenda.
