COLLECTING TINS ARE AT THE READY...
COLLECTING tins are at the ready as poppy appeal volunteers in Cheadle, Blythe Bridge and Uttoxeter areas prepare for their annual fund-raising drive.
Poppy sellers in Cheadle will launch this year’s initiative at Morrison’s supermarket on Friday where they’ll be joined by members of Beavers and Brownies units from the town.
The campaign will run for two weeks ahead of Remembrance Day on Sunday, November 12, but organisers say more help is needed to support the work of the Royal British Legion, which runs the appeal.
Organisers in Uttoxeter have decorated the town hall and parts of High Street in poppies and are encouraging shopkeepers in the town to create remembrance-themed window displays.
Collectors will be joined by armed forces cadets and American GI re-enactors on Saturday morning.
