It is set to be the end of an era for popular dance sessions in the Moorlands – unless someone comes forward to take the helm of organising them.
The popular fortnightly tea dances at Cheadle Cricket Club were devised and started by Brian Stoddard in May 2014.
The social sessions have proved to be a very enjoyable function for dancers of all ages and abilities over the past six years.
However, because of Covid-19, coupled with Brian’s illness, the regrettable decision has been made to terminate the tea dances at the end of the year, unless someone volunteers to restart the dances next year.
Brian’s daughter, Judith said: “Dad is hoping that someone else may come forward to take on organising the dances.
“However, if not, he will be ending them for good at the end of the year.
“They are not taking place at the moment due to the Covid-19 restrictions.
“And if no one comes forward Dad will then donate any monies left over from the sessions to a local charity next year.”
Judith added: “Dad welcomes the opportunity at this time to sincerely thank everyone who has helped and supported this function, especially Cheadle Cricket Club, the late Shirley Smith, Alan and Wendy, Roy and Hazel, John and Marie, and Arthur and Mary.”
For any further information, or if there is anyone wishing to carry on the popular tea dance session, call 01538 752253 and ask to speak to Judith.
