A NIGGLING injury has ruled out Cheadle Running Club star Rebecca Harrison from one her favourite races, the Stafford Half Marathon.
The 39-year-old college lecturer has been unbeatable in the ladies race since making her debut 2012, winning on all five occasions.
Harrison explained: “I’m not in the form I wanted to be in, having picked up a niggle, and I don’t want my injuries to re-occur (achilles and nerve tissue) by pushing myself too soon.”
“I’m truly gutted to make this decision as it is one of my favourite half-marathons. The good news is there will definitely be a new Stafford Half ladies champion this year.”
Harrison added: “The race is popular with club runners across the Midlands but is a friendly event that also welcomes thousands of recreational and charity runners of all ages and abilities.”
A record 4,000 runners took part in last year’s event which saw Harrison complete the 13.1 mile course in 1:25:57.
