Residents ready for talks on next step for facility
MORE than 60 people have registered to attend a meeting to discuss the future of Cheadle Hospital.
The ‘listening event’ at the Manor in Watt Place tonight (Wednesday), is the fifth of its kind organised by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in North Staffordshire and Stoke focusing on community hospitals affected by a reduction in rehabilitation beds.
The CCGs have already staged events to discuss the futures of Leek Moorlands, Haywood Hospital, Longton Cottage and Bradwell hospitals.
Attention now switches to Cheadle, where residents’ views on what services are most needed will help bosses to draw up a short-list of achievable options for the Royal Walk facility.
Peter Dartford, lay member for North Staffordshire CCG, said the meeting – which starts at 6pm, is a genuine attempt to get as many views from as many people as possible.
He said: “Because of what has happened up to now, there is not a great deal of trust in the CCG or health services.
