Plans for future of facility met with cautious welcome
HEALTH bosses have revealed the future of Cheadle Hospital is secure.
Families, patients and community leaders feared the Royal Walk facility could be shut down as part of a review of all community hospitals in North Staffordshire.
But a leading member of the body that delivers health services in the area has insisted it will not be closed and could instead have a stronger role to play in the provision of health care in the Moorlands.
Campaigners have this week welcomed the news, but remain cautious over promises that a fresh ‘collaborative’ process will deliver new services at the hospital.
In an exclusive interview with the Times and Echo, Peter Dartford, lay member for patient and public involvement at North Staffs CCG, said the hospital would remain open and that residents would get the chance to create a ‘wish list’ of services at a public meeting on Wednesday, November 29.
