A Moorlands pensioner is set to jump out of an aeroplane – all in aid of two charities.

Sheila Cooper, who is 72-years-old, has set herself a challenge to take part in a tandem skydive this Summer.

Sheila, who lives in Cheadle, said: “I want to challenge myself to fulfil an ambition to complete a tandem skydive in my 73rd year around the sun, and use this opportunity to raise vital funds and awareness for two charities that are extremely close to my heart.

The MS Society Staffordshire who support those living with Multiple Sclerosis in the local area including my daughter. I have had numerous friends also affected by this debilitating condition.

I will also be sharing the money that I fundraise with The Dougie Mac Hospice in Blurton.

This is a fantastic local facility that provides invaluable support to persons and families for palliative care.

Any donations gratefully received, please like share and support this cause if you can.”

Shelia is set to take on the high-flying challenge on May 20, weather permitting and hopes to raise lots of money for her two chosen charities.

Sheila, who is a mother of two and a grandmother of five, further told the Times & Echo: “I am looking forward to doing the skydive. This is another thing on my bucket list I wish to complete.

Three years ago, I walked Snowdon and helped raise £4,000 for different charities along with members from GK Fitness Gym.”

During the pandemic, Sheila also raised more than £2,000 for the St John Ambulance by making more than 1,000 masks which she then sold for donations to the charity.
