A CYCLIST who rescued a pilot after a light aircraft crashed near Uttoxeter has been handed a top bravery award.
Chris Lamb was presented with a commendation from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service during a special ceremony at Uttoxeter Fire Station.
Another cyclist who helped out in the incident – an off-duty nurse – has not been named.
The pair were recognised for their courage when a light aircraft came down in a field near Blithfield Reservoir at Abbots Bromley last year.
Chris, the nurse and others were cycling in the area when the plane crashed into a field full of maize on Monday, August 28, 2017.
