A CHEADLE school is celebrating a stellar performance after hitting the top spot in the county's league tables.
Painsley Catholic College was the only secondary school in Staffordshire to achieve a ‘well above average’ rating in the new Progress 8 education rankings.
Principal Steve Bell praised his ‘phenomenal’ staff with helping students earn better grades than their peers.
Progress 8 takes students who achieved the same grade in their SATS aged 11, then compares their GCSE results to see if they have all achieved the same grades again, or whether they have scored above or below the average mark.
At Painsley, all students at all abilities and in all subjects, achieved on average 0.75 of a grade higher than their counterparts – giving it the top spot out of the 50 secondary schools in the county.
