FARMLAND on the edge of Uttoxeter is set to disappear under 429 homes which have been given the green-light by planners.
East Staffordshire Borough Council’s planning committee agreed to extend the town’s settlement boundary at a meeting last week, meaning plans to build on land at Hazelwalls Farm can go ahead.
The battle over the proposals for Hazelwalls has raged since 2015 when an application for planning permission was first submitted to ESBC.
Since then, the Hazelwalls Impact Group has gathered more than 200 members in opposition to the plans.
Members of the planning committee at ESBC voted in favour of the plans, despite hundreds of objections, but then had to consider the
application again after campaigners and MP Andrew Griffiths argued consultation over the site had been inadequate and almost a fifth of the plans were outside official development boundaries.
