A CHEADLE businessman has completed an energetic challenge – all in aid of charity. Duncan Cowans, who runs a hairdressers in Cheadle Shopping Centre, was joined by seven other intrepid walkers, in completing a 35 mile walk from the Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton to the Bet365 Stadium in Stoke. The challenge took place recently in order to raise funds for the Dougie Mac in memory of the late Gordon Banks.
Those who joined Duncan on the walk were: Sue Matthews, Jo Challinor, Nigel Matthews, Alexander Cowans, Kevin Upton, Nigel Wood and James Allen.
The team set off, accompanied by two support vehicles, at 5am and reached their destination at 6.25pm.
Duncan said: “Weather conditions were perfect.
“We were all in high spirits in spite of aching legs and sore feet.”
The team were joined en route by other walkers, including the ex-Stoke player John Ruggerio and were welcomed at the Bet365 Stadium by members of the Banks family.
Anyone wishing to still donate to Duncan and his team’s cause can do so by going online to www.justgiving.com/campaign/GordonBanksLegendWalk.
