A DOCTOR is putting his best foot forward in encouraging patients to be more active.
Keen walker and Cheadle GP, Dr Kevin Upton is stepping out of his surgery to get more people on the move.
The doctor, with colleague and nurse Tonya Davis, lead the first Tardis Walking Group event on Friday, June 8.
A group of 15 set off from South Moorlands Leisure Centre for a 40 minute walk through the Cecilly Brook Local Nature Reserve, before heading back to the leisure centre for free refreshments.
Tardis Surgery practise manager, Susan Pyatt, said: “We started with a short walk, around 40 minutes or so and went around Cecilly Brook and Mill Road, which was fine for the older participants.
“But some people wanted to go further, so Dr Upton has decided that he will extend the walks and people are welcome to join him.
“After getting back to the leisure centre and having a cup of tea and some biscuits, a group can go out again, and this time he’s thinking of heading up to Freehay.
