SEVEN teenagers from Uttoxeter have been arrested after a late night robbery. A man was injured in the incident which is being investigated by Staffordshire Police. Officers from the force executed a number of warrants in the Uttoxeter area, resulting in arrests. Seven teenage boys have been bailed until Wednesday, February 6.
Police said a 52-year-old man was attacked at 12.40am in Church Street, Uttoxeter on Friday, January 4.
He suffered injuries to his legs and upper body during the robbery.
A bus pass and cash were stolen from him.
Under the Theft Act 1968: “a person is guilty of robbery if he steals and immediately before or at the time of doing so, and in order to do so, he uses forces on any person or puts or seeks to put any person in fear of being then and there subjected to force.”
The maximum penalty on conviction is imprisonment for life.
On Monday, January 10, warrants for arrest were issued and took place in Hill Close, The Orchard, Heath Road, Aston Lane, Meadow View and Lightfoot Road.
Boys aged 13, 14, 16, 17 and two aged 15, were arrested on suspicion of robbery.
A seventh teenager, a 15-year-old boy, was arrested later the same day.
All the boys were later released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
Sergeant Sally Bebbington from East Staffordshire Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The arrests form part of an on-going strategy to tackle anti-social behaviour and related crimes in Uttoxeter and the surrounding areas.
“Offending of this nature will not be tolerated and we will take all necessary action to locate and arrest suspects.”
