A MUM and daughter business duo are fundraising to help a family member to walk. Debbie Evans and her daughter Kerrianne, who run Wool 'n' Stuff in Cheadle's High Street, are pulling out all the stops to fundraise for Debbie's other daughter's son Ethan who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at an early age. Eight-year-old Ethan Beardow, who lives in Manchester, is aged eight and is currently wheelchair bound due to his condition.
Debbie said: “Ethan has had an SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) operation at Leeds Hospital.
“The operation has worked but it’s now all about getting his muscles built up and so he is having intensive physiotherapy, which my daughter is having to pay £300 for a course of treatment.
“This is why we are carrying out a ‘Help Ethan To Walk’ fundraiser.”
Debbie and Kerrianne, who have recently moved their wool business from 58 to 78 High Street, are also selling preloved and new baby clothes within their shop, with all proceeds going to Ethan.
Debbie said: “We are also going to have a fundraising stall at the Master Potter’s Bank Holiday event.
“We have a fundraising target of around £2,000 to keep Kathryn and family afloat in being able to pay for Ethan’s physiotherapy.
“The money is also going to be used to help pay for a special trike so that he can go out and play with his brother and sisters.
“We have found a company which can provide one for around £800.
Debbie added of her grandson: “Ethan is lovely. This fundraising is to ensure that he has a normal life as possible.
“He said to me the other day that his life is really hard and that he just wants to walk like his brother and sisters.
“Ethan is a beautiful child.”
