Pupils at a village school are going all out to raise funds for a number of charities.

Homebaking, loom band sales, and housework are just some of the fundraising activities which are being carried out by pupils at St Thomas’ Primary School in Tean.

School Business Manager Julie Burnett said: “At St Thomas’ Catholic Primary School each class is raising money for a charity of their choice throughout the academic year.

The children have embraced this and have already raised hundreds of pounds selling cakes, sweets, loom bands and even being paid for doing housework.

Several charities will benefit from all of their fundraising efforts throughout the year.”

The charities chosen by each class are: Reception – Cheadle Foodbank; Year 1 – CAFOD; Year 2 – Dogs Trust; Year 3 – WWF; Year 4 – SANDS; Year 5 – Cheadle Animal Welfare Society; Year 6 – Cancer Research.

Julie said of the students pictured here: “Bobby and Hugo recently brought in some amazing cakes that they made, with a little help from their grandma.

The proceeds from the cake sales will be split between the Dogs Trust and Cancer Research, and George has been busy helping around at home with housework chores – the money he has earned will also go to the Dogs Trust.”
