A dog rescue charity is appealing for donations to help purchase an animal ambulance.
Luosko German Shepherd Dog Rescue in Cheadle is hoping to purchase such a vehicle to be able to help even more animals in need.
Adam Harvey, at Luosko, said: “With the increase of requests for help by other rescues and the general public we are seeing an increase for help to collect, transfer and transport multiple dogs.
“Unfortunately our current vehicle only has the capacity for two dogs and two people which means that multiple trips have to be made or in extreme cases it means we are unable to help in some rescues without the help of others. The same goes for vet visits and shows.
“We would like to purchase the new vehicle to enable us to save multiple dogs without the need of multiple trips, in turn saving valuable time and money for the rescue.
“The vehicle can be declared as an animal ambulance allowing us to apply for road tax exemption and would also be used at shows to transport multiple rescues for people to meet.”
Adam explained that the purchase of the vehicle, signwriting and customisation will cost up to £10,000 and that he and his team are currently looking at several options for each.
He said: “The vehicle will help to transport multiple volunteers and dogs which will help us so much with rescues and vet visits and even shows.
“Normally we have to have multiple vehicles attend to transport multiple volunteers and dogs, costing a substantial amount of money.
“This vehicle will be dedicated to Lucca – the first rescue dog of Luosko.”
Adam added: “It would be great of a local car/van dealer would look to sponsoring a van we can use.
“That would be amazing and they could advertise their business on the van.”
