A TEAN family is offering a reward in a bid to track down cruel vandals who attacked two of their horses.
It’s thought scissors were used to cut the manes and tails of two mares on land at Gorsty Hill last week.
Furious owner Kim Tideswell, who lives at nearby Kilncroft, described the incident as ‘diabolical’ and says she’ll pay £50 to anyone offering information which leads to the identification of the culprits.
She said: “I’m absolutely disgusted by this as it’s just mindless vandalism.
“They cut the mane and tail of my cob Daisy, who was chained up on common land at Gorsty Hill and then climbed over a fence into our private field and did the same to my son’s Shetland Pony, Ruby.
“My son Scott discovered what happened and we did report it to police, but they said there’s little they can do.
“So I’m offering the reward because I’d really like to find out who did it. It’s diabolical.
“I would guess it’s youngsters with nothing better to do and, if it does turn out to be kids, then their parents should know what they’ve been up to as it’s a criminal act.
“It’s just not right that they’ve been onto other people’s property, let alone done this.”
Mrs Tideswell, who owns a dog grooming business, says that while the horses are fine, they’ll never look the same again.
“I’ve tried to trim them as well as I can, but the vandals have made a real mess and neither the manes or tails will grow back to what they were.
“Horses uses both to keep flies away and their manes should never be cut. It’s a real shame.”
