A community leader is asking for people to donate prizes for her appeal stall ahead of a popular festive event next month.
Cheadle town councillor Elizabeth Whitehouse will be running a stall at Cheadle’s Christmas lights switch on on Saturday, November 20 where she will host a tombola and a raffle to raise funds for good causes.
Funds raised by cllr Whitehouse on the night are set to go to her Cheadle Defibrillator Appeal and also the Cheadle Toy Bank Appeal which she is also a part of.
“The idea came about after a conversation with a friend of mine about ways to raise much needed funds,” cllr Whitehouse told the Times & Echo.
“Both appeals are very close to my heart. I’ve headed up the defibrillator appeal for nearly two years now.
“The toy bank was a massive success last year and with even more children falling into the vulnerable category this year, it’s so important that we raise enough funds to help both.
“Both projects have the community at heart and all I do is for Cheadle.”
A number of donations have already been submitted, for which Cllr Whitehouse said she was “so grateful for.”
She is still welcoming further donations so as much money as possible can be raised.
Cllr Whitehouse added: “We’ve had donations from some of our local independent businesses and individual community members so far which I’m so grateful for. Every little really does help.
“We’ve had toiletries, bath bombs, gift sets, sweet hampers and even a signed football shirt.
“In terms of donations we’re grateful for anything new that we can use on the tombola or for a raffle prize, any donation is gratefully received.”
Those who want to submit donations can contact cllr Whitehouse through her ‘Councillor Elizabeth Whitehouse – Cheadle Town Council’ Facebook page or call her on 07531 147809.
