A FAMILY fun day next weekend will see two Uttoxeter businesses joining forces in a bid to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.
As the fund-raising event draws closer, the teams at Cod’s Corner and BEAR at the town’s High Street are working hard to finalise their preparations for the sponsored head shave.
Chrissie Nicolau, co-owner of Cod’s Corner, has been heading the organisation of the proceedings and is also part of a group of brave ladies who will be having their heads shaved on the morning of the event.
Chrissie will also be donating her hair to The Little Princess Trust. She said: “I can’t begin to explain how grateful we are for all the support we’ve received from our local community.
“What was originally going to be a quiet head shave taking place in a local coffee house has blossomed into a huge, exciting event, and it’s all thanks to the generosity of the lovely people in Uttoxeter.”
The two town businesses have rallied support from other traders and companies and have been overwhelmed by the response received.
Hattie Shaw, who has been organising the event for BEAR said: “The amount of local support we’ve received is amazing.
“From every customer that’s already bought a raffle ticket, to all of the businesses that have provided us with bits and bobs to help us promote the event and raise money – we can’t thank you enough.
“We’ve organised this event to help raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, but along the way, it’s also provided us with an unexpected opportunity to really get to see the incredible, supportive business network that Cod’s Corner and BEAR are a part of in Uttoxeter.”
Together, organisers have secured a JCB Hydradig and a Lexus to be on show outside the stores, face painting for little ones – and big ones – live music from Dom Morgan and The Kev Hand Band, and lots more family-friendly fun.
There will also be a huge raffle draw at 1pm – tickets available for purchase from BEAR and Cod’s Corner.
Please note that the High Street will be closed to traffic on the day of the event between 10am to 3pm.
