More than £8,500 has been donated from cash raised at a royal themed celebration in East Staffordshire.
A total of £8,552 was raised at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration which was held at Uttoxeter Racecourse last month.
The organising committee behind the community extravaganza, in conjunction with Uttoxeter Town Council, hosted a special event last week at Uttoxeter Town Hall which saw the cash donations being handed out to a total of 32 local groups.
Uttoxeter Town Mayor, councillor Helen Headech, said: “As Mayor of Uttoxeter and a member of the team who organised the Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations held at Uttoxeter Racecourse on June 4, I am delighted to say the profits from the day came to £8,552.
“This sum was far in excess of anything we had hoped to achieve and has enabled us to hand out 32 grants to organisations and charities which assist and benefit the people of Uttoxeter and district.
“On the evening of July 6, the members of the Uttoxeter Queen’s Platinum Jubilee organised a presentation evening and invited those organisations who had benefitted from the profits of the celebration to attend.
“John Kavanagh Group Communications Director of JCB, kindly attended with a presentation cheque so that each organisation could have a photograph taken for their web pages.
“A presentation was also made to the two winners of the Design a Jubilee Stamp Competition – the winner was Kayleeand the runner-up was Aria.
“Both children put a lot of effort in and their designs caught the eyes of the judges. Well done.”
Cllr Headech continued: “So it simply remains for me to thank all of the team I worked with to put together the event, Deb Whiston, Amy Wain, Mel McGinley, Kelly Hitchens, Penny and Zdzislaw Krupski and those businesses who donated financial support, goods in kind, raffle prizes and time.
“Uttoxeter is so fortunate to have such a generous business community behind it.
“Thanks also to family, friends, the Army Cadets, the Lions, caterers, stall holders, crafters and performers who gave so much on the day to ensure that everyone who attended had a good time.
“If you have seen any of the photographs, the happiness is self-evident and the aerial photographs shot by Jonny Bradley and Lee Finlayson of Skyviewer Drones Limited give a unique view of the events.
“It shows what can happen when everyone works together.”
